Cécile Coune (°1962) is Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of AVIABEL S.A., a leading European aviation insurer, since 1 May 2012.

She was previously an insurance partner at law firm Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick since 2009 and a member of the Brussels Bar Association since 2004.

Prior to this, she spent over 15 years in the insurance sector, primarily  at Chubb Insurance Company of Europe SA (CICE), the European subsidiary of The Chubb Corporation. She became country manager for Belgium & Luxembourg and senior vice-president of CICE in 1994. She was also a member of the board of directors of directors of CICE. In 2002, she became managing director of insurance brokerage Atelia Corporate SA. She later worked for a subsidiary of the AXA group, as managing director in charge of AXA Art Benelux operations.

Cécile Coune is also a member of the Belgian Insurers Association, the Belgian Association for Insurance Law and the Belgian Association of Risk Managers. In 1998 she was elected ‘Woman in Business’ of the year (Marie-Claire Prize).
