26/02/2013 : Centered Leadership – Finding and leveraging your strengths
Last year, McKinsey hosted a half-a-day workshop on ”Centered Leadership – How Remarkable Women Lead” for the members of Women on Board. Joanna Barsh, a senior partner in McKinsey & Company’s New York office and also the author of How Remarkable Women Lead, introduced the participants to Centered Leadership and in particular the importance of ‘Connecting’. Given the large success of this workshop, McKinsey invited all members of Women on Board to a new Centered Leadership workshop, this time focusing on ‘Meaning’.
Centered Leadership is the result of 5 years of research on what it takes to enable female leaders to achieve and sustain fulfilling careers in senior positions. It is composed out of 5 dimensions: meaning, framing, engaging, energizing and connecting. During this workshop, we focused on the concept of ‘Meaning’: - How does a source of meaning in our working lives make us stronger, more inspiring leaders? - How can we uniquely contribute to the world by aligning our work with our strengths, joys (what lifts our spirits) and passions (what is important to us)?
The McKinsey faculty, composed of Joanna Barsh and other McKinsey Partners bring a rich combination of experience in business, coaching and leadership development.
